Youth Connexion
In partnership with Family Services of Greater Vancouver, Youth Connexion is a program for immigrant and refugee youth.
ISSofBC's Youth Connexion Program offers:
- 18 Weeks Group Training
- Individual interventions for beginners / literacy learners
- ESL/English upgrading/Tutoring
- Career Exploration including Volunteer / Work experience
- Personality Dimensions
- 3 – 4 - week volunteer or work experience placement
- Training: First Aid, Food safe, Cashiering, WHMIS, Computer
Program Supports:
- Incentive allowance based on attendance
- Childcare top up if needed
- Transportation
- Counselling and Advocacy
Who Can Apply?
- Refugees, immigrants, permanent residents, Canadian citizens
- Between the ages of 16 - 25 years old
- English as an Additional language learner
- Difficulties in accessing specific programs such as skills training, vocational training, GED courses as well as community resources
- Needs to gain practical skills to overcome employment and social barriers
- Not attending full-time schooling, educational or vocational training, or employment programs
