Youth Connexion

In partnership with Family Services of Greater Vancouver, Youth Connexion is a program for immigrant and refugee youth.

ISSofBC's Youth Connexion Program offers:

  • 18 Weeks Group Training
  • Individual interventions for beginners / literacy learners
  • ESL/English upgrading/Tutoring
  • Career Exploration including Volunteer / Work experience
  • Personality Dimensions
  • 3 – 4 - week volunteer or work experience placement
  • Training: First Aid, Food safe, Cashiering, WHMIS, Computer

Program Supports:

  • Incentive allowance based on attendance
  • Childcare top up if needed
  • Transportation
  • Counselling and Advocacy

Who Can Apply?

  • Refugees, immigrants, permanent residents, Canadian citizens
  • Between the ages of 16 - 25 years old
  • English as an Additional language learner
  • Difficulties in accessing specific programs such as skills training, vocational training, GED courses as well as community resources
  • Needs to gain practical skills to overcome employment and social barriers
  • Not attending full-time schooling, educational or vocational training, or employment programs
