Cross-Cultural Peer Support Program
- provides mental, physical and social support to immigrant and refugee women experiencing challenges during their integration process;
- trains newcomer women to become peer support group facilitators or peer support workers; 12-14 weeks of training on Saturdays from 9:30 - 4:30
- supports graduates to go back into their communities and deliver 10-week peer support groups or individual peer support for other newcomer women facing difficulties adjusting to their new lives in Canada.
- Childminding support available and transportation subsidies provided as needed.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates must have an immigrant and/or refugee background and a strong desire to help others and give back to their communities by assisting other immigrant and refugee women with their adjustment process. The successful candidates must be willing to make a strong commitment to the training and the facilitation of the peer support groups or individual peer support.
