Refund Policy

The Immigrant Services Society of B.C. is registered with the Private Post-Secondary Education Commission and operates in conformity with the Private Post-Secondary Education Act, the Private Post-Secondary Regulations, and General Directives of the Commission.

DISPUTES

All disputes should be directed in writing to the Director, Training Institute, and will be processed in accordance with the ISS Grievance and Complaint Resolution Policy. A copy of the policy is available upon request.

ADMISSIONS/DISMISSALS/RULES OF CONDUCTS

Copies of these policies are available upon request.

REFUNDS (in compliance with the private post-secondary education commision general directives)

1. Requests for a refund must be made in writing or in person and accompanied by the receipt. The assessment fee is non-refundable. Refunds on the balance of the tuition fee will be calculated on the basis of elapsed time as follows:

Refunds before the program of study starts:

2. (a) If notice of withdrawal is received less than seven (7) calendar days after the contract was made, all funds paid except 10% of the tuition fees due under the contract to a maximum of $100 will be refunded.

(b) Subject to subsection 2a), if notice of withdrawal is received thirty (30) calendar days or more before the start of a program of study, all funds paid except 10% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(c) Subject to subsection 2a), if notice of withdrawal is received less than thirty (30) calendar days before the start of a program of study, all funds paid except 20% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

Refunds after the program of study starts:

3. (a) If notice of withdrawal is received or a student is dismissed within 10% of the program of study's duration, all funds paid except 30% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(b) Subject to subsection 3a), if notice of withdrawal is received or a student is dismissed after 10% and before 30% of the program of study's duration, all funds paid except 50% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(c) If a student withdraws or is dismissed after 30% of the program of study's duration, no refund will be given.

4. All refunds will be made within thirty (30) days of receipt of the notice.

REFUND POLICY FOR THOSE ON VISITOR, WORKING HOLIDAY OR STUDENT VISAS (in compliance with the private post-secondary education commision general directives )

1. Same as #1 above.

Refunds* before the program of study starts:

2. (a) If notice of withdrawal is received less than seven (7) calendar days after the contract was made, all funds paid except 25% of the tuition fees due under the contract to a maximum of $400 will be refunded.

(b) Subject to subsection 2a), if notice of withdrawal is received thirty (30) calendar days or more before the start of a program of study, all funds paid except 25% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(c) Subject to subsection 2a), if notice of withdrawal is received less than thirty (30) calendar days before the start of a program of study, all funds paid except 40% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

Refunds after the program of study starts:

3. (a) If notice of withdrawal is received or a student is dismissed within 10% of the program of study's duration, all fund paid except 50% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(b) Subject to subsection 3a), if notice of withdrawal is received or a student is dismissed after 10% and before 30% of the program of study's duration, all funds paid except 70% of the tuition fees due under the contract will be refunded.

(c) If a student withdraws or is dismissed after 30% of the program of study's duration, no refund will be given.

4. Same as #4 above

*Visa Students:

A request for a postponement or a refund of all funds paid except 25% due under the contract to a maximum of $200 will be refunded provided that

(a) the student is denied authorization from Citizenship and Immigration, or does not receive authorization before the start of a program, and

(b) the student notifies the school of the circumstances in subsection a) before the start of a program of study is scheduled to begin, and the student, within a reasonable time, provides documentation of the circumstances (e.g. a letter of refusal from the Embassy or Consulate).

CANCELLATIONS

If a class is cancelled by ISS, please return your receipt to the Project Manager of the Adult & Continuing Education Program to receive a full refund.
