MY Circle training
The MY Circle Program is a fun and innovative leadership program that works with immigrant and refugee youth ages of 14 to 24 who are facing challenges adapting into Canadian society break their isolation, learn practical skills, make new friends and gather information about the services and resources in their communities. Our goal is to increase the
active participation and positive integration of young newcomers by providing them with a safe, supportive and comfortable place where they can gain validation and understanding around the complex issues of integration and adjustment.
MY Circle is a FREE training newcomer youth to become Peer Support Group Facilitators and Young Community Leaders. During the training, we provide free lunch and free bus tickets to all participants. At the end of the training, a certificate of completion and a letter for 80 hours of volunteer work are given to the youth. These hours may be counted as CAPP or community service hours.
Volunteer facilitators go back out into their communities and deliver peer support groups to other immigrant and refugee youth experiencing difficulties adjusting to life in Canada. The applicants must be willing to make a STRONG COMMITMENT to the training program and to the delivery of the peer support groups. Please note that you may have to go on a wait-list if interest is high. MY Circle can only take 15-18 youth per session.
