Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISS) is both registered and accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA). Under the Private Career Training Institutions Act which came into force on November 22, 2004, PCTIA,

  • regulates career training in British Columbia;
  • provides consumer protection to students and prospective students; and,
  • establishes standards of quality for accredited institutions.
PCTIA replaces the private Post-Secondary Education Commission, under which ISS has been registered since 1985. In ISS’ 30th Anniversary Year (2002), ISS received word from PCTIA that the organization had been accredited under the provincial act. To become accredited, institutions must meet standards of quality established by PCTIA. The PCTIA accreditation encompasses all aspects of the organization including:

  • management and financial capacity;
  • policies and procedures;
  • Board management;
  • instructional experience and expertise;
  • student and client supports;
  • curriculum design; and,
  • administrative competency.
ISS received a total of 14 “Commendations” in each of the audited areas: administration, programs, instructors, resources and equipment, student support services, student records and facilities.
